Ultra-Sensitive Spectrofluorometer: SignalyteTM-II

SignalyteTM-II

SignalyteTM-II is an ultra-sensitive spectrofluorometer that is up to 1000 times more sensitive than a fluorescent plate reader.

Applications

SignalyteTM-II is an ultra-sensitive endpoint fluorescence reader that can be used in medical diagnostics as a biosensor for detecting proteins, bacteria, viruses, toxins, disease, drugs and other biomarkers in saliva, urine, breath, sweat, blood, food, water and environmental samples.  SignalyteTM-II can also be used to identify DNA and RNA.

Assay Formats

  • Immunoassay
  • Enzymatic assays
  • Detection of viruses, bacteria, spores, proteins, toxins, disease markers
  • Detection of DNA and RNA without PCR
  • FRET assay
  • ATP assay
  • dsDNA and end point PCR reader
  • Reporter gene assays
  • Cell proliferation
  • Toxicity assay
  • Luminescence

Sample Holder

Sealed capillary tubes hold the samples, which can be up to 35 µl. Sealed tubes also provide safety and easy storage. Eight samples, plus a reference, are tested in approximately one minute.

Immunoassay

Many immunoassays use magnetic beads to concentrate and remove target analyte from the matrix; Creatv employs this method in its test kit for E. coli O157:H7. The detection limit is 10 cfu/ml using SignalyteTM-II to read the fluorescence signal. This magnetic bead protocol can also be applied to many other analytes.

Comparison of Sensitivity

The SignalyteTM-II spectrofluorometer is up to 1000 times more sensitive than fluorescent plate readers, depending on the dye and assay.
